Don’t Shrink. Show Up.
Last week, we talked about time. This week, we’re talking about presence—and the habit too many of us have of shrinking.
I’ve seen it in rooms full of brilliant women. I’ve felt it in myself, too. We lower our volume, question our ideas, rethink our value instead of owning it.
Why?
Because somewhere along the way, we internalized that playing small kept us safe. That being humble meant being invisible. That thinking big wasn’t “for people like us.”
But mi gente—we are not meant to shrink.
We are meant to show up. Loud, proud, bilingual, brilliant.
The truth? Your voice is powerful because it carries truth.
Your story carries weight because it’s yours.
Your presence is needed not in spite of your background, but because of it.
You don’t have to be the most polished, the most connected, or the most experienced.
You just have to show up.
Be honest. Lead with corazón. That’s what builds trust. That’s what builds legacy.
🛠 This Week’s Practice:
Make a list of three spaces (physical or virtual) where you tend to play small.
Then write down one way you can take up a little more space in each.
It might look like introducing yourself with pride.
Correcting someone when they mispronounce your name.
Saying "thank you" instead of "sorry."
Take the space. You’ve earned it.
